After a long search for a job here in Chicago I finally managed to get a job. I started working sometime in late February/March. Why yes, it is nice to have an income, however, I never imagined a job to be so difficult and draining. I work at a charter school near the Humboldt Park area. I am a TA for a third grade classroom where the students are all African American. My friend Dylan let me know about the position and I'm so thankful because I was really struggling with the job search.

I started a day or two after I was interviewed. Things were alright at first. I really admired the command that the teacher had and also the way she included positive reinforcements to her dialogue. I was really looking forward to being with this age group because they are so young. Maybe I could seep some awesome critical thinking skills into their subconscious.

After being with this class for over two months, I can honestly say that I do not do well with discipline or chaotic situations with little humans. This is mostly due to the fact that I do not want to inflict any emotional damage while they are so young. However, I can't stand being mean and considering I haven't had much practice being mean, it's very difficult to channel anger.

This summer I think I have been doing quite a good job at reading!

I started with reading The Hunger Games trilogy. They were so good that they got me into reading again! Kinda sad, I know. But I'm glad I read them! I can't wait for the rest of the movies to come out! Then I started reading Life of Pi. Very good. I was a bit skeptical at first, but then I started to get really into it. I was super excited when I saw the movie poster at the theater! I was squealing like no other. Ah! Can't wait. :D Then I read Fist Stick Knife Gun. It was a really easy read and I just couldn't put it down. Non-fiction about Geoffrey Canada and his childhood. I reread the perks of being a wallflower. I'm not too excited about that movie since I've read this book so long ago. My expectations are gonna be too high! But we'll see. Emma Watson is in it. So that's a plus. I just finished reading Survivor yesterday. When I first got it, I didn't really like it so I just put it down on my bookshelf to gather dust. But I picked it up again a few weeks ago and decided that I was going to read it no matter how bad it is. I ended up really enjoying it. So that was good. :) Now I'm looking into other books to read. I wanted to try to go through the list of books that Charlie lists in the perks. I read a Separate Peace two years ago, and I was delightfully pleased!

Alright now I'm going to try to read the following:

Devil's Highway
Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters
Hairstyles of the Damned
Invisible Monsters
Guns, Germs, and Steel

If you have any others, let me know! :D

The craziest thing happened today. Although I should expect this from the bus. I was on my way to Borders and I was waiting for the bus by my house on vermont. There was this guy on the corner singing/saying "Gloria" at people walking by, me being one of them. But I didn't pay attention to him. (He had a bottle of beer in his hand, btw) So then he started bothering people closest to him working toward the rest of the people. Then it was my turn. I was on the phone so it was a lot easier to avoid him. But he stood right next to me, his side on my side. I was getting really upset by his inconsiderate-self. But thankfully the bus came right when I hung the phone up. So i just walked away. Little did I know that the drunken man would be going on the bus as well. When on the bus, the man was making quite a ruckus. A couple stops later, I realized the bus driver would not move the bus. Then a lady came to the back and started directing her speech toward the man. "Get off the bus." is what I could make of it. (I had my headphones on) At this point, I wanted to stand up and ask the man to leave as well so that the bus could move. But I found that I was glued to my seat. I couldn't muster up the courage to stand up to him. A few minutes later, the lady that was asking him to get off the bus told the rest of the people on the bus that another bus was approaching. Then she stepped off saying how there were no real men on the bus because no one would say or do anything about this man. It was quite ridiculous.

PS across the universe was... [speechless]
